This General Contractor is an award winning company with a primary focus on exceeding Client expectations. They are founded on four core principles: True collaboration, flexibility, mindful innovation, and commitment. They have had great success in recent years and due to this success they have decided to expand their operations, and are looking to take on a Chief Estimator for their Austin office.

The Chief Estimator is expected to lead the estimating portion of the preconstruction process. This requires an individual who has high attention to detail and delivers estimates with great accuracy in short timelines, with the ability to prioritize and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Lead and manage the Estimators, Asst Estimators, Preconstruction Assistants, and Preconstruction Interns
- Review drawings, specifications, RFP/RFQ, and all other construction documents. Make senior management aware of design-related problems, completeness of documents and other potential risks
- Develop Clear and accurate scope documents for all projects
- Perform quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for all items within the project scope
- Evaluate and analyze subcontractor proposals
- Work in conjunction with Operations to ensure that detailed General Conditions/Requirement (GC/GRs) estimates are prepared, and review with others as needed
- Communicate and collaborate with Marketing staff to ensure all elements of RFP deliverables are provided in format requested
- Responsible for the value engineering process during preconstruction for the assigned projects
- Develop and enhance subcontractor and vendor relations
- Analyze and assemble cost data, unit prices, historical costs, and information that can be developed and used as a data base for future conceptual estimates.
- Estimates equipment, Client, cost of work, and materials required to accomplish self-performed trades as required (concrete, demolition, framing and drywall scopes)
- Being present and actively participating in pre-bid meetings, site tours, post-bid interviews and presentations to Clients
WORKSKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Exceptional skill in both verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices
- Must have conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements
- Should demonstrate imaginative, innovative and succinct approach to a project to identify opportunities for process improvement, problem solving, and increased efficiencies
- Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents
- Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, OST, and bid communication tools. Familiarity with Procore software is a plus, but not required

- Strong written and verbal communication skills to disseminate information effectively
- Ability to pay particular attention to detail, good decision-making skills, and the ability to approach and handle problems strategically
- Adequate knowledge of corporate objectives that impact estimation, market strategies, and techniques, and contracts
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, Quality, ethics and compliance requirements at all times
- Participates in coaching and mentoring, supports training programs, and commits to both personal and staff development
- Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of preconstruction estimating experience on commercial ground-up and renovation construction projects
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Construction or in a related discipline
